If you were wondering what that scream was you heard about an hour ago, it was me.

See at that point I realized that I left (hopefully) the flashdrive with all my stories on it, in my computer at work. At least I hope that's where it is.

As a result the next part of my little story will not be posted until Monday.

Insert your favorite dirty word here {_____}

If I'm mistaken and it isn't in my work computer or if someone swipes the drive from my computer, you can expect another scream on Monday morning. The scream will be shortly followed by me curling up under my desk and crying.

The ironic thing is I was going to back up all of my work this weekend to my online account.

A perfect ending to a really crappy week.

Sorry all, I'll post again as soon as I can on Monday.

Luv, Hugs, and all that jazz,

Two flash drives

One on my dressing table; one in the safe. Also saved on my laptop.

Laborious, but it works (so far).

If work found it...

Wonder what their reaction to the fiction will be.... (You could say that about me too... But, luckily I carry my work computer home ever night!)

Good Luck,

May I super size that for you?

I might have to practice that phrase. Even the gays in my department are suprisingly transphobic.

So I'll be sweating bullets this weekend. I do think I stand a better than even chance of everything being ok though.

a dear friend whom I know from here was kind enough to send me and my family some nice things, including a couple of flash drives. After I loaded it with half my library here I misplaced it in the house. "Woe, I am undone," would be shouted, perhaps in Gaelige, Italian, and maybe even pig Latin if my family read my work. So far, so good. I'll be praying it turns up in your capable hands only!

It does get the blood pumping

the heart races and you're thinking "Oh my god, who's going to find it? Will they read it? Will my secret be exposed? Arrrghh!

Needless to say, I had a super busy mind last night and didn't sleep well. Hopefully all will be well and I think it's a good bet that it will be, but . . . .

hugs,

It might have been worse!

Hey, Connie! At least you know where it should be!

Two weeks ago, as I was about to post Chapter 11 of To See Through a Glass Darkly, I accidentally deleted almost a month's work & could not recover the file. So now, I'm having to reconstruct it.

All is not lost, though. Would you like to join my team researching the practical applications of Murphy's Law? ;-)

Peace!

multiple backups....

When my spouse was working on the master's thesis and later the PhD dissertation, there were fairly recent (within a day or so) copies on 3 different computers, 2 different flash drives, an external hard drive, and 2 different online storage accounts. Every month or so, a complete set of notes, research, and writing was burned to first CDs, then later DVDs.... Paranoid? No, just very familiar with Mr. Murphy...

That doesn't mitigate the fear of someone reading your lost flash drive (how well I understand that!), but multiple backups are "a really good idea"(tm)... :-)
