duty and destiny

I'm messing around with a new story. I'm not sure what I'll title it; at the moment I've given it the working title of "duty and destiny.' It takes place in the same world as my stories The Necessity of Winter, and After Winter. Chronologically, I'd say it is 3 or 4 years after After Winter.

As soon as I finish it, I will post it here, but as I said, it's still in the messin around stage. I've even posted a map, but it is a little crappy. I'm so jealous of Persephone's map (I have map envy).

If you want to have a read, click here for pdf drafts of Parts 1 and 2 (The link will take you to my teeny tiny website.)

Below is the story image and tagline; I'll send a beer to anyone who can name the image.

duty and destiny

Prince Cadon is the only son to King Rhys, and heir to the Glamorgan throne.
His duty is to marry the Princess Avila of Parasia.
His duty is to unite the kingdoms against the plots and schemes of the King of Acrum to the south.

Seems clear enough.

Yet Selene's destiny for him is far far different.

It's a nice Map

There's nothing to be ashamed of. It is a very nice map. You should see some of the monstrosities I have generated in the past. Oye!

Just do the best you can and your talent will shine through.

Thanks, Nancy

As the story gets further along, I'll try to create a better one. This one was just to help me visualize where everyone was. It really helps.

Hmmm...

I might have to go back and read up on some of the other Selene stories. Seems like a really good start!
Hugs!

Thanks, Grover!

They can definitely be read separately, but with each story, I'm unifying them a little more.

Excellent Story!

I really admire the way that you set the plate for your story. It really is great to be let in on another part of the world that you have created as well as to meet new people within that world. I look forward to reading more of the story when it is available.

I know I should outline my stories, but I don't. I have a general idea of where I think they are going and then I write away. Sometimes the endings don't come to me until late in the writing. This one has come together now and I've seen how it runs from beginning to end. When it does that, the writing is faster, so this one will be finished and posted here soon.

I name the image Fred.

Does it need a second?

Would you just believe this?!

I was, after a year of not-looking, checking the Across the Multiverse webcomic. And what do I see?

That's right, a panorama that includes a similar looking structure. Some coincidence, huh? :)

Nope, it's syncronicity!

And the universe's way of telling you it's time to make a pilgrimage to the Tor. Some have said the remnants of a labyrinth remain on the slopes of the Tor, and if you walk it correctly, you will find a doorway to the underworld.

I visited the Tor at one of the worst times of year, January, which proved a blessing, because I was the only person at the top.

I think it may be the same hill...

They drew in a medieval tower for the closeups, because the modern structure is both too recognisable and the wrong period.
