Okay, so I posted Assassin Four the first half. I left to do do a job and I came back and it's gone. What happened? Arecee

Unpubbed it

I unpubbed it because it was blank.

Hugs,

Taking a look at Assassin

First of all, it's huge, 80,000 words or more.

Second, it's full of unprintable characters (and I have lots of fonts installed); it looks like MSWord smart punctuation gone feral.

Third, no blank lines between paragraphs and some sort of problem with the EOL character.

It looks like the the render engine in Drupal just gave up on it and put up an empty window. Further, when I copied it out to an editing program locally, it crashed the editor and froze my Mac.

Sorry,
Hugs,

At one time I thought the *window* here for posts was 64K or so

Or is my memory totally fried?

If all else fails do what I have done in the past at other sites, try posting it as two separate postings, IE chapter four part A and chapter four part B.

Not elegant but it works.

Half a loaf

Arecee had split it in half, the 80,000 words was the first half. :)

Normally, I recommend keeping chapters to 3000 to 20,000 words but thats' just for ease of reading on screen. The software can now handle some pretty big files as long as the punctuation doesn't cause problems. In particular, Drupal expects blank lines between paragraphs and if it doesn't get them, it tries to process the whole post as one long unit and will run out of memory somewhere around 64,000 characters which is about 9500 words.

Looks like Arecee solved the problems and the chapter is now up. :)

Hugs,
Erin

Disappearing / Reappearing?

That's what happens when you use software developed by Marvin Acme...
