On the future of Becoming Robin

What an amazing journey this has been for me both as an author and, I feel, as a human being, not so much from writing my Robin stories but from my connection with the community here.

I've been thinking for awhile now about what it is I want to do with Robin's tale. I read somewhere recently (I STRONGLY suspect someone's signature right here at BCTS actually :-D) that the sign of a great story is when you dread writing the final chapter.

That's honestly exactly how I feel about Robin. The closer I get to completing book two, the harder it becomes to write because I do so love writing about her life, and the way she touches others' lives without trying, or the obstacles she (and others) must overcome.

That's why right now, I'm very seriously thinking about making Becoming Robin into a true serial after Book Two is 'complete'. The main difference would be that instead of having a definitive 'final' chapter like Book One did, and like Book Two will, it'll be more like EAFOAB in that it'll 'just keep going'.

The thing is, I have plans for Robin that extend into her college years. THAT was the original point where I wanted to start writing it as an ongoing story style serial detailing her new adventures post-completing her 'transition', but as I said, I'm giving a lot of thought to pushing that up to following book two instead of, say, book six (Or however long it would take me to get that far :-P)

The big thing is, I don't want to jump ahead on the timeline anymore than a couple of months between "books" anyway, so the major difference would be in the presentation and lack of a "Final" chapter.

I know there are quite a few readers and authors who dislike the serial format. I used to be one too :-) But as I said, I love writing Robin, and either way, this story is going to be continued for the foreseeable future anyway. I may yet branch out and do other non-Sweet/Sentimental non-Robin (and non-alt-universe Robin :-P) stories, but right now, I have to go with what I get the most joy from writing. :-)

Just to clarify, whatever I do decide, it will be after Book two's "final" chapter, which will probably be a ways off in and of itself. I just wanted to let those following the story so far know what I've been thinking about :-D

With love,
~Zoe

Sounds good to me Zoe.

[email protected] As I've told you before, I'm more than willing to follow Robin wherever she leads you. Your muse has obviously been working O.T. this week! I didn't even get a chance to comment on the last chapter and you've already got another one posted! I'm not complaining. It's just that I've been following four other serials and they all had new chapters posted the same day. So much to read, so little time!

Robin will always have a special place in my heart, as will you.

Many Thanks, many more Hugs, and much Love,

Jonelle

That's why I usually try to

That's why I usually try to stagger posting with a few days in-between, so I'm not overwhelming readers, though in this case my excitement for posting chapter 11 got the better of me :-D

I'm going to shoot for posting Chapter 12 this Sunday or so, possibly slightly later (along with a new Aria Blade, with any luck)

Please, More!

Go ahead, try to overwhelm me! Okay, I am selfish! I read very fast, and there are never enough stories for me. If only I could come up with stories as fast. I envy you. It takes me a very long time to finally come up with a decent story. I hope to post my first this week sometime.
Thank you for working so hard. I love your stories!

I'm not worthy!

Serial or Books

Whether it is a series of books or an ongoing serial, as long as more Robin is going to be written I'm happy.:-D

I'm going to

put in my two cents and say I think you could do an amazing serial series about Robin and her life and all her trials as she goes through high school and beyond.
But I'd be satisfied with another amazing book.
or twelve.

Admittedly still on the fence :-D

I've seen some compelling arguments for both cases, including a PM that (I'll keep 'em anonymous in case that's their wish :-D) made an excellent case for keeping to the book format.

For my part, I actually like what both styles bring to the table, so I might just compromise and keep Aria going as a serial while doing Robin in book format.

Many thanks to everyone that's weighed in so far! :-D

Edit: It's barely 6am, and the typo gremlins are already nipping at my heels. Where did I put that blender...

Becoming Robin-The Serial

What can I say? Okay...

YES! YES! YES!

Like many other stories, I want to see what happens, but I hate coming to the end. This is like an answer to my dreams! Now, if I could just figure out how to submit my own stories (Yes. I have the directions, if only I wasn't so cluless with computers...but I'll get it!)

Thank you so much! You've made my day!

Serials

I've not really been able to get into EAFOAB, That said, I've been a fan of other serial stories (Texas Gal for one), and I could easily see myself reading Robin, the Serial well into the 400+ stories. Please do so if you care to.

Just always remember, it is YOUR story. Say what YOU want to say, put down what YOU feel is needed to be said, and don't let ANY of us chose your story path or plot for you.

Cool! :)

I've really enjoyed "Becoming Robin" so far, and would eagerly continue to read it once it converts to serial form. Bike-sceptics need not worry, as I imagine new episodes would appear less frequently than daily, so if they went away on a fortnight's holiday, they wouldn't need to take another week off work to catch up :)

Of course, once Robin has gone under the knife and legally becomes Robin, then a slight variation on the title (i.e. removing / replacing "Becoming") might be appropriate...

*giggle* Yeah, I'm still

*giggle* Yeah, I'm still trying to decide on what the new title will be, and whether or not to implement it sooner.

That's another important point too, actually, that you hit on there. Whatever I decide to do, I won't be doing the "An update a day" thing again. I ended up rewriting Book 1's ending, which amounted to an entire five chapters' worth of changes, so keeping to the chapter a day schedule was ... not something I plan to ever try again ;-)

Much respect for Ang and any other writer that can do that, but I'll keep up with the "When I feel they're ready" style, myself :-D
