A Girl With "Extra" Bits

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

I read a lot of transgendered stories where the TG protagonist is referred as a "girl with extra bits". So okay, we have this disgusting thing between our legs, that have two small ping pong balls behind it. Then, most of us have these dumb old ping pong balls removed and we are left with what has been referred to as an "extra" bit.

Now, I don't know about the rest of you, but I have never referred my ** as an "extra" bit. Rather, I look at it as an elongated clitoris that needs to be shortened. Both removing the little ping pong balls, and shortening the clitoris, requires surgery, and maybe a week or two in the hospital to recover.

Removing the ping pong balls is day surgery, but sometimes, depending on the doctor, the patient will spend a day or two in the clinic's ward, or at the hospital, just so the doctor can readily check for infections. It does take about a week to recover from having the ping pong balls removed, and longer for the genital surgeries. When I was placed on estrogen (premarin) I was very happy that my psychiatrist had seen me as the girl I am. (See my book Chrissie).

So, I said all that to say this. If we are M2F TS, we need to stop referring to this digusting penis as an "extra" bit, and think of it as an elongated clitoris. See, when we have our srs, this is shortened anyway to make the clitoris, and with the nerves intact we can enjoy sex with a man as a female. As Karen Carpenter once sang, "such a feeling's coming over me..." and girls, it is a nice feeling too.

Before I had my ping pong balls removed, I had such dreams of being married to the most handsomest man in the world. Of course it was only a dream. The reality is, I was never married, but I did have a lot of fun being the girl I was born to be.

So ladies, the penis is not an "extra" bit, but an elongated clitoris that just needs shortening.

Thanx

Barbara

I think we all

have ways of describing it - disgusting wasn't one of mine, because I knew some of the bits would be recycled. One of my favourites is an innie or outie, however, I used to see myself as a female with a plumbing problem.

Maybe I am Rambo Bitch ?

When I had me bits removed, I walked into the clinic, sat in a Dentist's looking chair, he did the deed under a load of Novacane in my sack, sewed it up, and I walked out, and drove home. To me, it was nothing, and I think that anyone who gets fearful of having them removed should think about why they are doing it, or at least bank some sperm for a partial rewind.

Now, close to 5 years after SRS, my drives are again wakening, and unghh, what a ride!

Nope, never had a husband; really wanted one; still do, but now days men aren't men enough to take on a woman who voted to be one.

Graveyard Humor

Being quite fond of doing the Monty Pyton thing and always looking on the brighter side of life, when I had my surgery, I asked the surgeon if I could keep the little fellows in a glass jar. When he asked why I would want something like that, I told him I wished to display them on my mantel, so that if I ever brought a date home, I could tell him, "You better behave or else you'll wind up like that guy."

A few years later, when I was preparing for some follow up surgery, I prepared a note that I talked the nurse doing my pre-surgery work up to attach to my chart. The note read;

Dear Dr. Meltzer,

Please remember Bob Vela's admonishment; measure twice, cut one.

Nancy

Everyone got a hoot out of that.

The bottom line here is don't take life too seriously. After all, no one ever gets out of it alive.

Bloody hell, did you suck your thumb, have mumps... or what? Umm, still got mine, though almost invisible these days and the rest is rather less intrusive than it used to be. Still, short of winning the lottery that situation will remain for a while yet.

Terms? I sort of go the innie outie idea with Ang. Not that I spend a lot of time thinking about it, it just is. Shrug. Recycling...yep, works for me. And as Nancy said, no point taking it all too seriously, though we all will at times, no one gets out alive.

No extras

The 'girl with something extra' has bothered me too, mainly because of the views about women, sexuality and trans issues that are implicit in it. To put it simply (and thanks for the Monty Python association, Nancy), it's too much of a 'nudge nudge, wink wink, you know what I mean' way to describe us. A highly intimate anatomic detail with a woman who may not be sexually active at all is not 'something extra', unless one chooses to see women in terms of their perceived, imagined and objectified sexuality. Even in that case of course, it isn't really extra, as while she has an outie the innie is missing. Then again, we all knew that breasts are the most important part of a woman, anyway -- there's even a recent French court ruling about it...

As for disgust, that's something I've never felt about the parts I still have between my legs. Yes, they are annoying, sometimes to the point of tears, but on the other hand they have also made it possible to become a parent (although with some difficulties along the way). Yes, they feel wrong; yes, keeping them out of the way restricts my choice in clothing and behaviour; yes, I'd love to swap them for the other set and take heart in knowing that it is possible eventually; but disgust and hate are far too strong words for how I feel about it all.

For what it's worth...

... I realize that what I write is only fiction, but I went back and re-wrote "the talk" Robin and Kelly have in my most recently posted chapter (Before final posting, that is) after reading this blog :-)

I wasn't going to say anything at first because, where I stand on the Trans-spectrum is pretty far into "My closet has grocery-deliveries every Tuesday", but after reading comments posted since I first read it, I decided to go ahead and speak up, mostly to say thanks to you Barbara, and to everyone that's commented, giving me a little more insight from Kelly's perspective, as I already knew Robin's. :-)

Love and hugs,
~Zoe
