I'm back home. The surgery went well. It turned out to be not a hernia OR a cyst, but some kind of hydro seminal blockage or something like that. The upshot is they fixed the blockage and did take one of my testicles, so I'm halfway to an orchiectomy. This also helped allay some of my fears about undergoing surgery under a full anaesthesia, since I came through this well.

I am in some pain, but I expected that. I have pain pills and antibiotics to take and I can't do much for the next few days, not even driving, for fear of messing up the stitches. I really want to thank you all for your messages of support and your best wishes and prayers. They meant a lot to me, and I think it helped me be calmer when I was there, waiting for the surgery, knowing that you would rally to my support.

An amusing incident occurred while I was waiting for surgery. There I sat, hospital gowned... wearing the little surgery headwear, no makeup, no hair, no breast forms, and no jewelry. In walks a doctor type. He stops short upon seeing me, backs out hurriedly and I hear him say: "There's a WOMAN in there! You sent me in to see a WOMAN! I need a female nurse with me to do that!" That incident did a world of good, feeling better about how I present and/or pass.

I love you all. Thank you.

So wonderful to hear that it was something that they took care of and the serendipitous additional procedure. So glad you are okay. Be well, dear heart!

I Had An Ultrasound Once

jengrl's picture

I had an Ultrasound once and the nurse comes in to prep me for the procedure. She only found out I was TS after she had me get in position on the table She said "If I had known you were a man, I would have made you use the male changing room". I was appalled! I did notice the technician give her a dirty look when she said that. I left there wondering if she was going to be in trouble for what she said. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall after I left the room. I think she got an ear full!

Ultrasound Nurse

You should have replied "If I had known you were an insensetive bitch I'd have asked for another nurse"

Zing!

I never think of things like that until a day or two later. I should write that one down and carry it in my wallet...

So happy

you didn't have any complications.
Big gentle hugs!

Wow!

Pity they couldn't have taken them both, but halfway is better than none! Kinda makes me wonder, could you get half price on finishing the job?

Um well, that's the Feringi in me, please excuse.

I'm glad thing went well for you! Yay!

Get well soon and don't you dare overstress yourself!

Another funny in hospital; when I had my back op done in 2007, a nurse asked the technician if he'd asked me? What - I wondered, I'm lying there in a bed waiting to go to theatre. She walked up to me with her clipboard, "We're doing the positioning under Xray," I nodded that i understood. "I have to ask you, could you possibly be pregnant?" I replied in the negative, and she asked me again, "Are you sure?"

If I had been it would have made the record books, on two counts. Firstly, I don't have the equipment to produce ova, and secondly, I haven't had an active relationship for several years.

Funny places, hospitals.

Way to go!

Sounds great. Too bad he couldn't take the other one. As to the doc's remark. He was entirely correct. He shouldn't be in there without another woman. I'm glad he recognized it, but a bit disappointed that they hadn't thought about the issue before.

Best of luck to you. Full anesthesia does have some concerns. I've had it for my colonoscopies/endoscopies... So, I'm less concerned. But there IS always a concern with anesthesia. Glad you came through with "flying colors".

Get Well Soon!

Take good care of yourself, and heal up! No smoking, get lots of sleep, drink plenty of water, and spend some time every day walking around. Sitting for long periods is probably a poor idea, considering where the stitches are. When do the stitches come out, next week? That'll sting a bit, but it doesn't take long.
