Hey everyone! I have a question to all of you computer gamers out there! As you know most RPG games now will let you make a character portrait. Which ones out today are really good at that? I figure with all the WOW and other players out here if anyone knows it'll be the people here. So any recommendations?

I've looked at Poser but I'm a little hesitant to get so involved I need to learn a whole program. I'm afraid I'm a point and click kind of person. :) Easy is good! Just looking for a way to waste a little time in a way I can pretend is constructive.

Hugs!

Try Anarchy Online

It's been around a LONG time - but you may find what you're looking for. :-) The interface certainly is easy to use.

uhmmmm

well... if you go for single player... Neverwinter Nights 2 gives some good options, but must download some add ons to have more hair options... Mass Effect can create really nice faces...

And for the online games... my absolute favourite... City of Heroes... can do lots of things with the creator

Second Life and Sony Home

In my experience both Second Life and Sony Home allow quite a bit of freedom in face design. Second life has more options, for instance in hair styles, but Sony's interface is easier to use. Both I and my best friend are easily recognizable as our avatars in Sony Home. I haven't used Poser but I assume it beats both of these since that's supposed to be one of its specialties.

I know you can take snapshots (for exporting) in Second Life. I forget whether you can do that on the PS/3.

WoW Pictures

Before starting to write my Merchant stories, I actually used WoW to create a few Drake and Sandrelessa animated gifs. Never was really happy with them, so I never used them. Since then, I moved to EQ2, and I admit to liking their models better than a number of the other games I have tried (WarHammer was okay, did not really like Vanguard) during that time.

Hero Machine

Have you seen Hero Machine?

It lets you put together pieces of a character, and they've got a bunch of different versions these days.

Thanks

For all the feedback! I know that for me it is a lot like a virtual Barbie that I can dress up however I like. Thanks for the infor everyone!

MMORPG character portraits

Guild Wars!

Smoother graphics and with a little work, you can get the really nice looking armors (outfits) that will fit what you want it to look like. If you'd like, I can post the graphics of the 10 characters I have.

For portraits, try Eve Online

The Eve Online character generation is limited to head and shoulders, but the customization options are great. You have a lot of options in reshaping the face. Also pose, lighting, some clothing options, and the characters look pretty realistic.
Try a Google Image search for "eve online" character portrait and you will get a good idea of what is possible.
Ignore those that show more than head and shoulders, because some people have just photoshopped the rest of the body. BTW an extension where characters can walk around on space stations is planned. That will make full body character generation necessary, but it is not available yet.
