Like it often seems to happen with me, I woke up with an idea from my crazy muse who decided I should be awake, not sleeping. LOL

A young man discovers in his early teens that he should have been a girl, but being from the bayous of Louisiana, life doesn't come easy. His parents were always ready for a party, and like they had many times before, they joined several friends on an old and not very well kept twenty foot long speed boat. A really nasty storm raged through the area they were in and the boat went down with all lives lost.

With no family, he gathers some food and a few dollars and heads to New Orleans.

He's always had a head for the numbers. He finds himself a tiny room where someone left behind a five year old laptop, likely by accident. He doesn't know much about computers, but he meets an older guy who lives on the streets that used to work for good old Microcrap. This guy fixes the laptop and tells our boy to help him out if he ever gets the chance. The young man agrees.

Our lad wanders off to his little home and starts spending time learning about trading stocks. For a period of about six months or so, when he isn't working in the potion and herb shop run by a crotchety old lady who needed an extra set of hands, he watches the stocks day in, day out.

Eventually, he starts trading, managing to make modest gains, some of which he passes over to the guy that helped him with the computer.

Another year or two passes and he's picking up on everything, he's making solid trades that are bring him large amounts of cash. By the time yet another year passes, he's banked close to $20 million US and that just keeps on growing by leaps and bounds.

He takes a chunk of that money, buys a group of old run down apartment buildings in the poorer areas of New Orleans, has them all fixed up and gives them to the guy that helped him out, with the proviso that the apartments be for folks wanting a step out of the gutter. At the same time, he buys a small island out in the twisted waterways of Southern Louisiana and has a small house built with an underground level.

All this time, he has continued working with the old woman in the herb and potion shop, even though he's now worth over $400 million.

One day, while they are working, a modest quake hits the area, lots of full potion bottles fall off the shelves and break, spreading across the floor; the young man steps into the pool, slips and falls to the floor, knocking himself out on the hardwood planks.

He woke up several hours later, found himself lying in the old woman's bed and his body appeared to be changing. She tended to him for several days, almost a week, before the changes were completed and the new person was revealed. He had been fairly tall yet slender for a male, with bright red hair touching his shoulders; this new person was still tall, about 6'2", yet slender would not be an apt description for her.

Hip length hair the same colour as his had been, wide green eyes with a hint of grey in them like a brief cloudy spell, a long, narrow nose and a fairly wide mouth over a rather square chin and small ears hiding under the mass of hair would give you a fair idea of her facial appearance.

Her body, though, was a whole different picture, large breasts, perhaps 44 DDD, beautiful 38" child-bearing hips and a tiny waist over a set of legs that just seemed to go on forever completed the image. Getting clothes for this girl was going to be a whole lot of fun.

That was the physical side of things; a few days passed before our new girl discovered that there were other changes. She had gone into the main area of the shop and had been helping the old woman; at one point, she touched the old woman, pressing gently on her upper chest, when something very, very odd happened. With the briefest flash of scarlet red between her hand and the woman's body, she felt SOMETHING move from her hand into the woman, who looked up and gave her a truly heartwarming smile filled with love.

The old woman at some point informs her that a fair part of what she fell into was a small rack of her "love potions".

Further experiments determined that she could use her new power in two ways, by physical touch if close or as a beam from a distance. In either case, the visual effect was of a scarlet red heart approximately a foot high and a foot wide. The touch effect also has a depth of two or three inches, whereas the beam stretches from either hand to whomever she is attacking, generally within about 100 feet.

They also discovered that there were four levels for either attack:

1) Imagine a young girl waiting at home for Daddy to return for work, Daddy walks in the door and the girl hugs the stuffing out of him;

2) Imagine a group of young girls, perhaps half a dozen or so, all ganging up on Daddy at once when he returns home, they would pounce on him like the one girl does, but from as many sides and angles as possible, then hug and tickle him until they were all worn out;

3) Multiply number two by 50, imagine 300 to 400 little girls running around, hugging everyone they can until they're exhausted; and

4) Multiply number three by 150, let's say 5 thousand to 6 thousand little girls, all at once, hugging everyone in sight until exhausted.

Another way to think of it would be like this, for the first, imagine a lovely heart about the size of the 'physical' visual effect described earlier in a plastic wrap with a 3 inch base so the heart would stay upright. For the second, imagine half a dozen or so of those in the trunk of a car, for the third, a van with three to four hundred of those in the back instead of seats and for the fourth, a semi trailer filled end to end with them.

Now, the physical effects of being hit by either of these attacks are not of the hurtful sort, oh, no. The first would leave one feeling like they'd discovered a new love, the second might be like like finding a small group of people, each of whom makes your heart melt with sheer love, the third might be similar to a small concert where the love flowing from the music leaves you feeling slightly dizzy and the last would be similar to that, but on a much larger level, say a concert for 25,000 fans where the whole place is lost in the music, loving everyone around them.

She also has two evasion/disappearance abilities, both forms of teleportation: the first allows her to jump perhaps a hundred feet away from her prior location to avoid further attacks for a moment, the second is a mental trigger that only takes effect if she is on the brink of death. At that point, she will literally vanish and reappear in the house he built in the backwaters of Louisiana.

She will stay there for a week or so while recovering, getting food through a friend of the guy that fixed her laptop way back when. The guy brings fresh food each week on Monday afternoons, removing the old food and either disposing of it or using it in some manner.

Her final ability is that she is a semi-brick, able to take quite a bit of punishment and still keep fighting. The downside to this, though, is that it is all too easy to go from being bashed around and battered yet still fight to taking possibly killing injuries in a matter of moments.

Her outfit is silver leggings and top, with a large scarlet heart over the left breast and smaller hearts on the outer sides of the leggings. There is also a cape with a large scarlet heart over the portion that would cover her back, and a scarlet domino mask to conceal her identity.

I don't have a street/ordinary name for her yet, I'd be happy to accept suggestions.

The one other thing I don't know yet is this: if she does join a group, which one would it be? Or would she perhaps go to Whateley?

First things

What is her current and projected age?, is she still able access her money?, is she a part of 1st gen or 2nd gen
I hope these questions will be helpful

Re: First things

She's 21, haven't specified a birthday yet. Projected age? No idea.

She has proof of the change, the old lady was so surprised at what happened she took pictures two or three times a day, similar to the recording of changes that occurred in other stories like Bob Arnold's Zapped or Toni Trepasso's Becoming Antonia.

When she wants to access her money, she'll have the photographed proof of everything to help establish her identity. She does have a lawyer from before, so once she proves to the lawyer that she is who she says she is with the photo record, she'll have that help.

It might require that she go before a judge at some point, but the proof is there and a good judge won't deny hard evidence.

First generation or second generation? If you're referring to Whateley, not sure.

It's stuff like this that had me say in the blog entry that I was open to suggestions.

What I meant was

If she is going to be a part of the Whateleyverse will she be 1st Gen canon or fanfiction or she in the new 2nd Gen canon
For her street name try to think of names that have been from movies that were from the 1940s to the 1970s as they have more refined names

Re: What I meant was

At this point, I don't know whether or not she will be part of the Whatelelyverse at all, so first or second generation isn't relevant yet.

I simply offered up the possibility, in essence asking if people thought she should be part of a group of supers operating in a specific city somewhere, perhaps after meeting and helping one, or whether she might be pointed toward Whateley for training, etc.

Ooooo, can't get much more posh than to name her after the two longest reigning monarchs of the British Isles! Elizabeth Victoria!

Both of those were fairly or semi popular in the 1940s, Elizabeth being number 25 and Victoria number 130 out of the 200 listed.

Ahhhh, for the surname, Knightly fits her quite well, considering she wishes to be out there helping people facing possible harm.

So her street name, once everything gets legally sorted out, will be Elizabeth Victoria Knightly.

Friends, once she has some, would likely call her Liz or Beth, haven't decided which one of the two yet but that isn't urgent at the moment.

No other opinions?

I find that unusual considering the variety of stories on this site featuring metas/mutants/superheroes.

I've read stories with metas/mutants/superheroes, both Whateley and non-Whateley, but I've never written a story about such a person. Having feedback from people who like and/or write meta/mutant/superhero stories would increase my knowledge in a general sense and help me to decide how and where she would do her thing. At the moment, it's all up in the air. I'd hate to see the idea just end up on a virtual shelf.
