Family sharing requires that we have our family Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve this year, so my daughter and son-in-law can visit his parents in Lincoln City on Christmas. So we are busy this morning getting the dinner ready for this afternoon.

It's a great time of year when we all reflect on the relationships that are dear to our heart. I want to say that if I'd conducted interviews and done background checks and picked him myself, I couldn't have ended up with a better son-in-law. As a result of his union with my daughter I have two of the greatest grandchildren in the world. The day she was born, I nicknamed my granddaughter "Sweet Girl" and she (now 18-years-old) has lived up the name. And my grandson, who came to us by way of adoption, is a fine young man of 16, active in sports at school.

At this time of year, I consider myself blessed to have this family. Looking back at my life, there are many things that I could have done differently, perhaps better, but I wouldn't change anything because of the outcome is more than I could have dreamed and I wouldn't want to risk losing any of it.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight.

We all need the communities and families we belong to. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
