I want to ask if it bothers anyone else that you have to scroll to the end of a story to bookmark it? I have a lot of stories recommended to me. I usually bookmark them immediately and read them later. It has bothered me, on occasion that when I scroll to the end of the story, I accidentally read part of the ending. I am curious why the bookmark option is at the end of the story rather than the beginning of each story or chapter.

Am I the only one that feels this way? I do not wish to be critical of how the website is run or anything like that. I am extremely grateful to Piper and Erin and everyone else that contributes to this site. I really love it and hope that everyone is generous with their contributions. I do not know how difficult it would be to change the format to allow bookmarking before you read a story.

Bookmarks vs. Bookmarks

tmf's picture

I don't have that problem due to the fact that normally I bookmarks by my browser and not the site.
Of course I can't change computers or devices and still have all the bookmarks. But since I don't have another computer or device, I don't have a problem with that.

Peace and Love tmf

I have many devices

I use firefox and they allow you to share bookmarks between computers.

Generally I do all my reading on my iPad. Its text is wonderfully clear.
So my bookmarks persist.

I don't bookmark myself... but I use my little notepad to store a line of text from the story. Then when I come back I can do a find in files for that line of text.

Dayna.

Similar but slightly different problem

I have a similar problem in that when I do a search I have to scroll down to the bottom to move to another search page. The searches are always presented as most recent first and I rarely want to see those.

It's one of those things which make searching this site quite cumbersome and often discourages me from doing it.

Sort hy Date Ascending

Just add " ?solrsort=ds_created%20asc " to the end of the search url or use the "sort by" box at the bottom of the page and click "date" twice. I will see about moving that box UP closer tonthe top.
