got home last evening after over a week away for Gabycon. Normal service will resume shortly!

So a short reprise of the last week or so:-

Thursday last - after voting I set off for Derby where I caught a time saving train to Tamworth. From there I made my way via Meriden to my campsite just outside Stratford upon Avon where I spent a restful night.

Friday - an early start took me through the Cotswolds and eventually to a different River Avon via two heavy downpours! then it was a train down to Dorchester to start the Gabycon!

Others have given you the rundown of the weekend - the prequel may well be worked up into something longer for later release.

Monday - I snagged a lift from Ann to Salisbury where I spent the day doing the sights, Old Sarum, the cathedral, Magna Carta etc.

Tuesday - after a pleasant night camping it was off to Stonehenge then through Wiltshire to Calne via the Attwell Morris motor museum where I stopped in an old coaching inn.

Wednesday - wet was forecast so I curtailed my planned stops instead making firmly for the campsite at Oxford. I didn't get as wet as last Friday but when you are in a tent any wet is too much! A walk around Oxford followed by chips ended the day.

Thursday, that's yesterday - an early start north under cloudy but dry skies took me to Banbury then on to Gaydon National motor museum where I stayed for almost 4 hours! when I did get going it was to join the Fosse Way towards Leicester. A mechanical issue (broken Japanese part) coloured my decision mid afternoon to bail out so I caught a train (well two actually) from Hinckley home.

It wasn't high drama, it wasn't a huge ride distance (@ 500km) but it was a good time.

We will try to organise next years event more in advance, we'd love to see you there! (although I might not repeat the riding!)

Funny, that. Chugging back up the A429 Ickle Car and I got to Halford and decided to go instead up... The Fosse Way! The change of route was good, avoiding Coventry and Nottingham, and probably saved an hour's journey time.
Your travel back was undoubtedly more interesting than mine ;) It was good to get together again with a few of the folks, the only down side was leaving again so soon.

interesting?
