The link for this is currently making the rounds as a Facebook share.

Hopefully, articles like this will help public perception. At least it is making it in to mainstream media, and getting shared. That seems like a good sign to me.

Oh, the pain

I haven't experienced that sort of pain and often wonder why? You see, I am not my own best friend and yet somehow seem extremely blessed as a woman. My heart goes out to you.

The Music Man

This issue reminds me of the broadway musical, The Music Man. in the play, the con artist had to create a false crisis in order to mobilize the entire population to support him in his con. He selected a new billiard table (the town had a Billiard Parlour but had only just received their first billiard table), as his 'cause célèbre' blaming it on all the problems in the community and emphasizing how it was corrupting the moral fibre of the young men in the town.

This bathroom issue is exactly the same thing. We created a huge firestorm of controversy over a problem that does not bear any semblance of a true crisis. I am not belittling the very real issue that transgender people have to deal with over a function most of us take for granted. I am also not denigrating any of the arguments that have been put forward on either side, despite the fact that many of them are so specious that I wonder how anyone can hold a straight face will making them.

It just angers me that we are faced with some extremely important issues, and in light of the Orlando shootings, I think we can all agree that that single event makes the bathroom issue seem silly in comparison. Please don't think that I am saying there is no need to resolve the bathroom issue. What I am suggesting is that if we could focus more on solving the big issues, many of the smaller issues might resolve themselves.

just my two pennies.

Be kind to those who are unkind, tolerant toward those who treat you with intolerance, loving to those who withhold their love, and always smile through the pains of life.

Jen dear, you are preaching

Jen dear, you are preaching to the choir with an excellent statement and opinion. Have you sent this to a newspaper op-ed page? If not you should.

The issue has been manufactured

specifically to draw attention away from how other more important issue are being handled. I don't know if it is succeeding or not, only the elections will tell.
