Peter/Penny's story is much like Patrick/Patricia's story, though I'm not as out as Peter/Penny.
I loved the mayor's response. P/P's wife is precious. I decided that I'd like to look at the book and bought it as an eBook, I'll probably do a review for it when it comes up in my reading queue.

...that terminology was a direct quote from Lou, Peter/Penny's spouse. I think the BBC authored text surrounding it uses the correct terminology.
Three years ago when the Wail article was written, both they and Peter/Penny were using the terminology transsexual / transvestite. Surprisingly for that publication (which generally hates everyone not in its target demographic and has the editorial policy of "WE'RE DOOMED!"), the comments were largely positive...
