I don't live in the immediate vicinity of L.A. or San Fran but I was wondering if anyone knew of general availability of finding a musical teacher in the U.S. to help teach me the Gayageum. It's a Korean zither and I've really wanted to learn it ever since hearing it's potential on "Heartstrings".

I would like to learn on the full string but they're quite expensive for me now so I'm looking at the basic model for now.

That is an amazing instrument. Thanks Rhona McCloud for the link to YouTube and someone playing this instrument. Best of luck in finding someone who can teach you to play it.

A day is wasted without learning something

Having been subjected to years of Latin lessons at an early age, then seeing the syllable "Ageum" my ancient brain immediately translated that as being "I age".
Throwing the "Gay" on the front suggested then that I might get more and more gay as I age.

However, it has now been brought to my notice that this is in fact a Korean musical instrument.

And that Hendrix fusion! Stunning!

Excellent addition to my knowledge.

Thanks

J

... sometimes spelled with a "K" ?

Yes.

That particular consonant, depending on it's placement in the Korean word, can be "K" or "G". There is a consonant "K" specifically but it's comparatively soft, like a puff of air.
