This will get ugly

The bar is right on the MAX line on North Interstate. Not being a drinker or a bar person ... One comment said that the complaints were about gay sex in the bathrooms, though I doubt that this is true. Exhibitionistic T and gay folk make it unsafe for some others. For me, intimacy is for in the bedroom and nowhere else.

I am most concerned about backlash from this sort of thing and the "Jenner" thing. Yesterday, I heard two residents in my building complaining loudly about gay rights, and "fucking tranny's". I feel less safe. Oh I am sure that some here will be incensed by my remarks, deal with it.

and yet

we are NOT seeing a call for heteros to be banned. i have worked in many public/retail areas, and have had HETERO liasons happen in our restrooms, to the detriment of our sinks on two occasions.

but because its not "deviant", etc its not "an issue"

Let me first say this,
I am all for "Equal Rights for All" and "Transgender Rights" in particular. And I generally believe in doing the right thing.

But,....! The problem is there may be a grain of truth in the Bar Owners "Original Premise", that "He was losing business". I think he most definitely did the wrong thing. However, he may have been in a losing position with no way out due to the reaction of other patrons. Doing the right thing morally may have lead to the business failing, and now it likely will anyway considering the fine.

Keep in mind the point of a business is to make money, a good businessman would not turn down business unless it some how cost him more to do so.

Personally I think he should have done the right thing and hope for the best, that being "New Customers, consisting of a more Open Minded Clientele". But I can see him doing what he did in order to try to save the business. Seems like a lose lose situation all around, the bar fails and the customers in question need to go else where.

This is assuming two things:
1) That he was not just being a total bigoted ass himself,.
-&-
2) That the group did Not Pass(intentionally or not) and therefore were driving off other customers(due to those other customers own bigotry).

Sometimes there is no solution.
I wish there was one.

PS. Does anyone remember the line about the "Nun's Bar" in the movie "Sister Act" in the movie it is funny but the reality is not!

PPS. Please excuse my crazy grammar an punctuation, for emphasis.

Alternatives

There IS a restaurant about 3 miles away where T folk go to have breakfast or lunch. The owner has been nice enough to give them a meeting room to do these things. I have been there twice but not since 2009. I do not know if the Bar owner had a separate room for them. The place is also a strip joint/bar, so a few trannys should not have had an effect perhaps.

I am so timid about this sort of thing, not that I am holy or anything but just what the hell would I do if some man hit on me? I mean really? I don't actually know much if anything about the T culture

I actually wanted to go into the Bar in question so I could talk with the strippers to try to understand how they can take their clothes off in public? Um, I actually did go nude at a Kink event back about 2007, but I was on so many psych meds that I had the courage. Not now!

For me, right now I am asking myself how much fun I missed?

Claims and Truths

I've seen the claim that the LGBT customers were costing him business, but I have yet to see any evidence that supports this claim. It ought to be simple enough for the owner to pull the information from his books. But until he does I can't accept that as a valid reason for doing what he did.

I went outside once. The graphics weren' that great.

The owner went about it the wrong way

Calling on the phone to do it is wrong. A face-to-face to ease concerns, express appreciation for the business but suggesting alternatives.

His other clientele may very well be assholes but T-people are very conscious of the poor attitude of other people towards them. The sex thing is just plain ol' bigotry. They just assume the worst of people merely because they are different.

This whole thing is moot.

The club is listed on Google as permanently closed. It's not surprising to me. I lived in North Portland for 20 years. The area is a depressed area. Businesses of all kinds come and go. The P Club used to be The Portsmouth Club and changed hands hence the new name. The owners had the locals up in arms when it went to a strip club.

Funny thing, when I was in the area, I never heard about any kind of Tranny organization in the area.
