In my experience
Heroes are ordinary people who either choose or are unable to run away from extraordinary circumstances, or who value someone or something more than their own safety. It isn't romantic more desperation.

None of the people,recognised as heroes, who I have had the privilege to meet wanted to be other than normal. Life isn't pain nor are losers so easily defined.
