While I wont say the army or

While I wont say the army or military discriminate it does happen. That being said, The military does have extremely strict rules against discrimination and quarterly classes on that subject and others.
looking at the article it is likely this person was working for the military but working with other civilians.

No one has the right to tell you that you can't be you.

Looking over the article, I

Looking over the article, I'll agree. It's a research centre, so it's run by the military, and the core staff is almost certainly military, but most of the researchers and technicians would be civilian. (My mother was a civilian that worked with the Air Force JAG) I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the bulk of the complaints and 'counseling' were done by civilian management, and the higher ups weren't aware of much of it until the OSC showed up and started asking questions. Which will mean that there will be a lot of higher ups with their knickers in a twist, and they _will_ roll it downhill.

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

I once worked for the army...

...pre-transition, as a civilian clerk-typist in Frankfurt, Germany. Perhaps it was for the best that I didn't continue in civil service once I moved stateside, because I could easily see myself facing the same discrimination after transition. I was discriminated against working for a company that was created to employ disabled people, so I can only imagine what the army would have done.

The Higher Ups, Military Will Look the Other Way

Until it is brought to their attention from above. I spent 21 and a half years in the military, and knew few officers who were proactive until they were told to be so. The bigoted and gung ho get promoted because that is the system. They will obey the orders from above but few will subscribe. What I wrote in Soaring with Eagles was based on real experiences. The only difference was that it was only gay issues. I knew a few progressive commanders who were supportive. They knew who was gay, and as long as they kept their 'noses clean' and didn't embarrass the organization, they moved up. However, one slip up and they were out, if not court martialed.

State government in Arkansas is no different. A woman who was an ex-GI applied for a secretarial job where I worked. She was not selected for the job, and the only reason was that she had transitioned, and the boss couldn't handle it - even though I felt she was a very liberal person.

So sad

I'm intolerent

Reading just a few of the comments posted on the article, if we could get them all in one place, if we could get ISIS to deal with them, we'd all be better off. It' s a win-win situation. ISIS could satiate their bloodlust, and we'd raise the IQ of the U.S. What's not to like?

I went outside once. The graphics weren' that great.
