A Very Vivacious Vet Visit

So...if my issues with my ambitious editor Maxine weren't enough...

I'd just returned from the airport where, much to Maxine's chagrin, they wouldn't permit me to board the plane as her comfort human. Something about her papers not being in order. I calmed her down by telling her they're showing "Halloween Ends" on her flight. That didn't calm her down. Now I know why they call it "caterwauling."

ethical dilema

While I was walking my dog today another dog got under his owner's fence paralleling the sidewalk and attacked my dog. The owner has already paid the vet bill for fortunately non-life-threatening injuries though one bite could have been fatal if it went deeper. My problem is that this is the second time that I know of that this dog has gotten lose and attacked another dog. I feel like I should file a complaint to prevent more attacks but at the same time I hate to risk a dog being put down.

What a month or four!

Well! I've said some things about what's been happening, but it's been moving so quickly I'm really not sure of it all myself!

We've had a few last gasps of a dying winter here in the Pacific Northwest, but during the last few convulsions, I was in Phoenix, spending time with my parents and my sister, and ended up with a sunburn. Ah, the feeling of freezing while the top layer of epidermis peels off your arms and shoulders. Such bliss!

Same-sex Penguins Hatch Their First Chick at New York Zoo

Same-sex penguin pairs aren't unusual.

A pair of same-sex penguins hatched their first chick at Rosamond Gifford Zoo in New York and the parents are caring for it like pros.
The two male Humboldt penguins (Spheniscus humboldti) named Elmer and Lima were given an egg to incubate because the egg's biological parents have a history of accidentally breaking them. A chick hatched from the egg on Jan. 1 and is doing just fine with its same-sex parents, who keep the newborn penguin warm and fed.

My freelance service dog

I'm posting this under pets, but I'm really not sure if Mya counts as a pet... She's definitely a fur child.

I've touched her ear and had her whimper a couple of times, but I thought shed stop, then she did again this morning, so I took her to the vet and had her ear checked out. Sure enough, there was an ear infection, so she's on an antibiotic and some ear drops.

Isn't insomnia fun?

One of the great things about insomnia is the time you have to think about stuff. I think about consequences a lot. For example, when I finally get enough sleep, and I feel guilty about staying in bed because it's now afternoon, I get up and reach for the light chain from my ceiling fan, and my body says, "Nope. You do that, I'm gonna dump you on the floor."

Oh no!

My parents love Greyhounds. They've had two wonderful girls for seven or so years. One is kind of skittish, and never raced. The other was a champion racer. Her name is Princess, short for Princess Leah (I know the spelling is wrong for the Star Wars character, but it's correct for her.) I looked up her stats on the internet after my parents adopted her, and they were impressive.

She broke a leg while racing one day, and was no longer of any use to her owner, and after her leg was pinned back together, she was sent to a greyhound rescue, and my parents got her.

Lazy fur baby

Mya being lazy.jpgNot exactly sure why the picture turned sideways, but my phone does that to me at times. It really can't decide which way it's going to take a picture.

Saw my girl, Mya, laying on the floor. It's a lazy day for both of us. Nothing really happening, so she's laying on the hardwood floor.

I've tried getting her a bed to sleep on, as other of my dogs have had.

Demented Fur Baby

A few days ago, I received, in the mail, from Amazon, a thing that screws onto a water tap outside, where my fur girls can lick it to get their water. I had one before, and my pup took to it like a duck, or a dog, to water.

Unfortunately, my fur girls are a bit older, and don't seem to want to learn how to get water from the thingamajig. They'd much prefer I put a bowl under it, and hold the thing on so their bowl fills up like I'm their personal maid or something. Honest! They're dogs, not cats!

Hi Everyone

Hi BCTSers and visitors, I’m Renee M and am almost 71. GRS 1992 with Stanley Biber; yup, I'm a Biber Babe.
Some older members might remember me; I never contributed very much, a poem, a short-short, and some Beatles songs with lyrics modified. Lately, I comment and even message a little; how I say whatever I’m trying to communicate isn’t very well constructed or clear, but I try.

Could use some help (It's almost service dog time!)

Hi BCTS Family!

In case you don't know me, I'm Jamie. I work behind the scenes here, helping Erin, Piper, Cat and everyone else keep this wonderful place running as smoothly as our little team can. You all have been absolutely wonderful to us over the last few years I've been working here, and I wanted to say thank you.

Now for the topic of this blog. I just got the phone call a few days ago that I am at the top of the list to work with a great service dog trainer in my area. I spoke with her some, and she recommended a specific Poodle breeder.

Lost my fur baby yesterday.,

He was a 19 yo Siamese. got him in 2000. Basically stopped eating, was down to skin and bones, Even though the vet eased his passing with an injection, he died of old age. I'm going to miss that old cat.I have a lot of trouble crying, I cried yesterday. My roommate handled the details. His name was Tiger ,His nicknames was Monster, and Asshole.

Hug and Kiss your pets

Went to the vet tonight for my cat last trip.

A few week ago I spot a grow on her jaw, but as I was STUPID and busy, I wait before seeing the vet... Long story short, it was one of the aggressive cancer.
With her lost of will to live and the quality of life she could have hope after any treatment. I only got one human option.

Don't forget to love and cherish any moment you got with those bundles of Love.

Love and Hug tmf

Peace, Love, Freedom, Happiness
RIP Tempête

Haven't been getting a lot of writing done.

My dog and constant companion of almost ten years and best friend, passed away unexpectedly late last week. I don't really feel much like writing right now. I've always been a bit socially awkward so I don't have many friends. Coming home to her after a day of work was always the highlight of my day.

We lost a four legged child tonite.

It was truly a dark and stormy night tonite. Earlier today, we rushed our beloved pekenese to the vet. She was having trouble breathing...the dog, not the vet. The vet said that it was a heart problem, which is...we found out, a common problem among pekes. He gave us some pills to help with Sugar's breathing and water retention and we brought her home.

Cuteness overload

When the human world gets to be too much for me (which is most of the time, these days), I watch this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmf0KAHWlnk

Twenty minutes of pure bliss and contentment. Not a word is spoken, and yet they manage to say it all. If only I’d had parents like these? When my father gave me a licking, it never looked like this. If mom had this sort of patience and affection?

My eternal thanks to the clever folks who write video download software… :}

Well isn't that just PURRfect?!

I don't know if this woman is making fun of us with performance art, or if she
really is a cat at heart, but her trans-species situation seems like what the critics
of transgender people always warned would happen if they allowed us to exist;
and I fear this will be grabbed onto as somehow implicating us as delusional,
with that peculiar logic of transphobes...

KITTIES awwwwwwwwwh!

As of 3 pm today we are again a three cat household.

IMG_5750.JPG

They were born to different moms in early and mid April of this year

Not yet named though the younger ( to the right in the picture ) -- by a couple weeks -- kitten may end up Molly .

The older girl is a bit of a devil though snoozing at the moment.

The last of our previous trio, Sniffanie, hissed at them. Rare bad temper by her.

What is the matter with people?

I was appalled to see this on the MSN website, especially from someone who should know better. Even if there was a local problem with feral cats, this behaviour is unacceptable. It seems the ladette culture isn't confined to Europe and the offensiveness is primarily about the bragging by this nasty female of an act of cruelty.

In the UK shooting any living creature with a bow is illegal.

John doing happy dance... Sniffanie tests negative

The FeLV and FIV tests came back negative while the control was positive so she is not infected.

Since she was due in a few months we updated her shots and started the first of two shots to protect from FeLV.

In three weeks she gets the booster fir it and e==we will have a fecal sample tested to make sure she is free of parasites.

Then we can get her a companion cat or two.

I am very relieved.

Here she is back home and healthy. And weighting 9.6 LBS. Might be time to cut back on the food!

Pray for our Sniffanie, she is getting tested later this morning

In les than half an hour out last kitty will be tested for two nasty viruses, FeLV and FIV.

The preliminary tests done on Simon this Monday showed either a large lymphoma or a large cyst. Maybe both.

The simple biopsy the vet did suggested lymphoma though the radiologist thought it was a cyst.

As Simon died so quickly there was no point in cutting him open to be certain.

Nor to do more expensive lab work.

So soon we will learn if she is healthy and we can get her a companion cat/cats. Or if she is infected and will need to live alone with us.

Mondays suck. I buried our two male cats today

Rusty was euthanized this Feb 06th, one day short of his 20 birthday.

We had him cremated as it was winter with heavy snow on the frozen ground.

We planned to bury his ashes near his sister in May.

Simon was well, other than a couple teeth that had to be pulled, up until a week ago.

He went off his feed. Seemed less energetic but we thought it might be stress from a house guest or allergies. We was a shy but loving animal.

Sis took him to the vet today.

To the woods ....

Greetings

That well known saga, Easy as Falling off a bike has a cute picture. A couple of days ago I found another cute dormouse picture.

The Worcester News, here in England, had a story about local wildlife group raising money to purchase some woodland with rare habitat.

For anyone who has lost a pet.

I found this video on youtube, of course. I defy any pet owner to not shed a tear when istening to Jimmy Stewart read a poem he wrote about his lost pet.

They are ALL waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge and lately, I find myself a bit anxious to get there. No, I don't want to die, but I miss my lost furry ones SO much sometimes.

Muffin the Cat Died Yesterday (Saturday about 1:30AM)

My cat, Muffin, died yesterday morning from complications of cancer. She not only owned me. She owned others in the Evil Witch/Little Kids Kamp family including Holly Hart, Maggie the Kitten and Debby Bishop (the superintendent of the Little Kids Kamp schools). She was a very loving cat. She loved to climb anything she could reach. She will be sorely missed.

Notes:
I still sometimes think I hear her meow.
She was one of the ancestors of the sabertooth cat (Felix incisor) at Little Kids Kamp.
